Should I pay off my credit cards or save for the down payment?

It depends on your score and your loan. Paying a card down can raise your score fast, but you also need cash for the deposit and closing. Ask us before you move money.

Cards that are close to their limit pull your score down the most. Paying them below about a third of the limit often helps.

Do not close old cards after you pay them off. An open card with a zero balance helps your score.

If your score is already high enough for your loan, saving may be the better use of the money.
